Work Work Work All Day Long

Work, work, work, work, all day long. I worked from 8AM to 3:45PM. Once I got off work, I drove to work. Got there a little early so I wasted like 10-15 minutes in my car then went to work at 5PM - 10:15PM. Hurray!! Money! I went home and showered. I had a package shipped via FedEx from Verizon Wireless, because my phone stopped working last week. It was a new phone, only problem is not a new battery, and it turns out the battery is the part that's messed up. Who would've guessed it. So i laid down in bed, watched like 2 episodes of How I Met Your Mother and then passed the hell out.

Today I'm probably going to have a short workday, because I'm feeling extra lazy. I'll try and get out of here around 2PM, then I've got to stop at the bank to get a rent check, and some money for Greg since I still owe him for loaning me money for my security deposit. I kinda want to go back to Kohl's and see if I can find some shirts and what not, also perhaps some socks. I need to do my laundry badly tonight, so I'll have to bounce on home and try and get that done, also around 6PM tonight, I'm working on reserves at the DZ with Mary. I do love working on reserves, because it's challenging, and I'm not so amazing at it, so it's something fun that I need to work at a bit. Plus I want to get my rigger's ticket so I can professionally pack people's reserves, and I've got to get good at it sometime. Free training is always a plus, and Mary has a few to do, so she's going to let me pack one for a while and practice, then she'll just pack it together in all of 8 seconds.... She's super quick.

Tomorrow is STP!! Not quite sure what my plans are for tonight after working on reserves, probably go home? But STP tomorrow, so that's exciting.

Fedoro (the manly version of a fedora)

So Momo wanted some help moving stuff from the garage to the basement so that it would be cleared out before the contractors come to redo the driveway/garage/patio and everything. So I picked up Sam (who is finally home from madrid, strange week not seeing him at all) and we headed over there. It didn't take horribly long, just moving crap down to the basement, then helping move some stuff to one of Momo's friend's places which was like 7 blocks away. Got everything done, ate some food and relaxed for a few minutes.

Momo told me about how she has 30% off of everything at Kohl's. I've been needing to get some new jeans so i jumped all over that. We went to Kohl's and shopped for nearly 2 and a half hours. The super-de-duper clearance racks, 80+% off plus the 30% off after that is amazing deals. I found a sweater vest and nearly exploded with excitement and joy all at once. Pulled it off the rack showed Sam and he just shook his head yes, because he couldn't even say anything it was too amazing. We found 3 vests, and then on the other side of the rack... two pink dress shirts! So amazing, so now we're planning on wearing some pretty freaking sweet things out to the bar for the night, and we're getting Dave involved, hence the 3rd vest. Spent a long time trying to find a 3rd pink shirt, which wasn't working out so we went to the clearance room in the back of the store. We found fedoras! Well for the day we decided it was so manly that we were going to call them fedoros. Got set with that, and looked at all the other crap that was damn near free after all the clearance and discounts. Over the course of our Kohl's journey Sam managed to get Beth some wedding present things, as well as picked up a gift for Shannon. While looking again for another pink shirt, one of the people working there informed us of the clearance racks on the other side of the Men's section. SCORE!! More crap to sift through and find amazing deals on. We found Dave's shirt too!! I ended up getting a fedora, a guinness baseball cap type thing, a pink dress shirt, a sweater vest, a sweater, two pairs of jeans, and a pair of corduroy pants. Subtracting the $20 that Momo was going to pay me, well I'm not quite sure how much I spent, because Momo told me that she was going to open a tab for me and I would just be working it off. Which works great for me.

Got back to Momo's after Kohls, where we got over $1000 worth of merchandise for less than $150, yeah we paid approximately 15% of what everything was overall. We've got skills. I took a shower at Momo's and me and Sam 'suited up' it wasn't really suiting up because it wasn't suits but it was still pretty damn good. Dave was coming in on the train and we needed to pick him up so we left Momo's in a little bit of a hurry to go get Sam. Sam realized he didn't have his phone about halfway to get Dave, but we just kind of ignored it. Until Momo called me and informed me that she had Sam's keys as well. Damnit Sam!! Oh well, we picked up Dave, dropped him at his place, and went back to Momo's so Sam could pick up his crap. Stopped there for a few seconds, Sam ran in, grabbed a bag with all his stuff in it and we left.

Back at Sam's apartment, I think I missed it a little bit. I started making some pizza rolls, Sam went to get a razor from OP and get Dave. I had food waiting for the boys when they got back, and Dave was all decked out himself, and he even had his own fedora so there's an extra one at Sam's that I'm probably going to have to take and call my own. I start getting calls from Gopher and Heather to go out to tosa to drink for Gopher's birthday. I had already celebrated G's bday the night previous when he turned 21 at the bar, and I wanted to go party with him some more, but I didn't really want to drive to go out, especially when I looked so amazing and wanted to get myself a good few beers. So I had to tell Gopher sorry I wouldn't be making it out to tosa, because I'm not trying to get a DUI, and he understood.

We started the night at Caffrey's for $2 leini's taps, and $3 bombs. I had a beer and a few bombs, while we sat around at the bar just chillin, talking amongst ourselves, and a few other people we knew at the bar. Shortly after midnight when the deals ended we headed over to Murphy's and drank 3 pitchers of Miller Light. We played a couple games of cricket (darts) in which I dominated the poor fools who were trying to compete with me. We didn't really do a whole lot, except be amazing with our shirts/vests/fedoras (which I'm wearing at work right now, and I look damn good). After Murphy's closed at 2 (grumble damn early bar time) Dave went home, and Sam and I went back to his apartment.

The plan was to watch an episode or two of How I Met Your Mother, but after I ate a few pieces of pizza and got settled I ended up falling asleep pretty quickly. I don't know if Sam did or not, but I was asleep.

Don't let that sweaty truck driver take yo' shit!

Ugh. So There's these two freight lines, A&B Freight and ABF Freight. They're right next to each other on my list of freight line phone numbers, and I was supposed to ship a measly 1 pallet, 380 lbs. from Oak Creek, WI to Rochelle, IL.

No biggie right?

Well apparently I called ABF instead of A&B, didn't realize it even when the guy was here to pick it up, and sent this skid with the wrong trucking company. Ok, well that's alright, they'll still deliver it right?

Apparently neither us, nor the customer who is receiving this shipment have any professional relationship with ABF Freight. Makes sense to me though after talking with their representitives for 35 minutes. I get a call yesterday from a guy named 'Ray' he tells me that they wont ship this until it's paid for. Asks me to change it from collect to prepaid, so that we will be paying the freight charges. I do what he asks, he says he'll get an invoice written up for us, and it will be somewhere between $180-$200.

Cool. Well not really since I called A&B and they quoted me $77.69 for the shipment....
I get a call today from Karen, telling me she needs a credit card # to pay for this so they will release it and ship it. I give her the number and she tells me she's going to be running it for $406.
Hold your horses there Karen. NFH (Not Fucking Happening) I explained to her that 'Ray' had given me a guestimate between 180-200 and she's all "well I don't know anything about that, and we can't just verbally tell people what we think it will be." (I pictured here to be givin' me sass at this point too, and snapping her fingers in a Z shaped pattern).

So I called 'Ray', well apparently he's just a part-time wanna-be, but hey he gave me a price and I'll be damned if we don't get at least that price. I get a salesmen on the phone from this freight company....

You know in the old days people used to rob freight lines, I guess they learned from those robbers, because damn over $400 to ship less than 400# from oak creek to rochell....

Anyway I get this guy Phil, explain the situation and tell him there's no way we're paying $406 for this, when I've got a quote sitting here for $77.69, meanwhile my boss and the owner of the company is just about ready to junk the whole shipment and tell ABF to do some very unprofessional things with themselves. I bitch at Phil for a little while about this, and he tells me he can give me a 55% discount, which brings it down to around $185, which at least is what 'Ray' told me.

So now I've wasted over an hour and a half on this entire ordeal, and we're still losing over $100 on freight. Oh did I mention the entire order is only $337.08, which means we're making $60 at most off of this. So now we're losing money, and wasting time, the double whammy.

Lesson to be learned: Double check paper work before you let a sweaty truck driver sign it and take your shipment.

Oh and cross ABF off of my freight list. Done, Greg did that while I was on the phone with Phil. He also mentioned to not tell them that we will never be doing business with them, because then they wouldn't give us that discount. Such a smart business man....

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's day... not exactly what I was expecting, but it worked out none the less. I had to work for starters, which is a good thing because I don't think I could afford a day off work and an extra 7 hours of drinking. I worked from 8 'till 3 got myself McDonald's for lunch because I wanted a Shamrock Shake damnit, it was St. Patrick's day! Anyway, I got off work, called my brothers since my friends were all either out of town, working, or under 21. Adam was at home having to take care of his babies, Sean downtown, and my pappy was at home getting ready to take a nap before he went out again for round 2. So I stopped over by my Dad, took a shower, we were going to go grab a drink, but he was pretty much needing that nap. So I headed downtown and met up with Sean. After walking 8 blocks from my car to where Sean said the bar was I managed to sorta get lost. Not so much lost because it was water and jeuno, but lost in the fact that I didn't know exactly where this bar was, and it wasn't where I expected it to be. After about 15 minutes of walking around in circles I finally found it. Went in half expecting Sean to hand me a beer the second I saw him, and ended up being told to go make a new pitcher happen. Fair enough so I did. As soon as I get back to the table Sean wants to leave and go to a different bar, I point at the pitcher and he's like oh yeah, well once this pitcher is gone we're leaving. Drunk ass... So it was Sean, Phil, Pat, and Phil's girlfriend? Nora. Spent some time making fun of Pat and his big ass dick hole, which apparently is huge, and you could double fist without a problem... Anyway we left The Harp, the name of the bar I met Sean at, and headed over to McGuilicuddy's. Tons of people there, the back patio was open, the entire place was packed. Sean bought a pitcher and a round which was pretty sweet. We grabbed a table and chilled for a little while. Sean as usual cracked me up by trying to hit on girls, always a great experience. I love just watching him... "From 1-10 how much do you love your Milwaukee Bucks?", "2", "bye". Usually how it goes. That's his line though, and it's funny to me. Then he started hitting on some big black chicks, and ended up giving away his shot glass around his neck to one of them. He traded it to her for a dance. We decided to head back to my dad's/Sean's because as Sean put it, "I have mudbutt like a motherfucker and that's just not something you do at the bar." so uhh yeah. The walk to my car was pretty much filled with Sean telling us about how much he loves fat black chicks because there's two kinds of people in the world who keep it real. Fat black chicks, and him. Good shit, Sean drove us back to my dad's, took his dump, we did a couple shots of Jameson, and headed to the Back Draught. This is a bar like 2 blocks away from my dad's where he was at and they had food, so that's why we went there. We were planning on taking the bus to bay view area to go to the boush's place, since he was the only one left with us at the time. Pat got picked up by his baby momma, and Phil hada go home for St. Patrick's day dinner w/ the family, Nora went with him. Got some food and some drinks. Talked shit with some of the locals, played a round of shake of the day. 2 shakes for a buck. I won a 6-pack of beer, which i gave to my pop's we plan on splitting it one day in the nearish future. He has 3 more that he's won in his wallet. I bought everyone a round of jager bombs since I was starting to get a little bit tired. The bousch headed home after a short while of arguing plitics and shit w/ my dad. Sean decided it was time for him to go home and sleep so me and my dad played a round of cricket (a dart's game) I won, after it took me forever and a half to hit my last 15. Then my pop's decided to head home as well. I still wanted to drink some, and some people were playing bar dice. So I joined in that, played some bar dice, and hit on the bartender a little bit more. Ended up being the last one at the bar, and headed out of there at 1:30 ish, called it a little bit of an early night and headed back to my dad's. Noticed my phone was dead when I tried to set my alarm for work at 8am the next day. Plugged it in, and it wasn't turning on but I was too drunk to deal with it. So I said fuck it. Went to sleep and was out in about 10 seconds. Woke up in the mornin' thanks to my dad, yellin from his room at 7:30 that it was time for me to bail. Grabbed all my shit, unplugged my phone and headed to work. Phone still wouldn't turn on, I figured I was just drunk and the charger wasn't plugged in or something. Worked until 3:25, and went home. Plugged in my phone, watched an episode of House, and an episode of Scrubs. Phone still not working. I went to sleep, it was early like 5ish. I slept until I dunno, the smoke alarm woke me up, then just shoved my head under my pillows and went back to sleep. Woke up again at 11ish, looked at the clock, said fuck it and went back to sleep. Woke up around 6:50 in the morning. Laid in bed until around 7:30, talked to Seth for a few minutes before heading to work. I was freaking tired, and it was time to catch up on some sleep. Now I'm good and chipper, and ready to work way too many hours today.

Lots of work and play

So a lot of crap going on lately, I've been pretty busy and it's nice and overwhelming a little as well. For starters I got another job last week Tuesday, which is kinda cool. I'm cooking at Slim McGinn's West in Menominee Falls, with my friend Dan. So last week...

Monday: Work, go home, chill out and relax. Sam had crap to do for his Midterms and whatnot, so I just caught up on some sleep.

Tuesday: Work, go to Dad's to shower before work, work at new job (make about a million tacos), grab a drink, head down to Sam's, have another drink, pass out of exhaustion. (worked from 8:05AM to 3:10PM then worked from 4:45PM to 10:45PM, was a good day....

Wednesday: Work, go to Dad's house before Admirals game, pass out for an hour on the recliner. Meet up with Dan Wesley, and Danny C. (new guy I'm also working with now) at Slim's downtown to pickup tickets for the game and have a beer on slim. We got tickets from Slim which is pretty cool. Head on over to Center Court and meet Anselm (pronounced handsome, without the H). Have a few drinks (2 whiskey sours) and get some food. We realized that the drinks were a bit pricey considering there weren't any deals going on at that time, so we headed down the road to Molly Cool's where DW had some free drink tickets. Find out it's happy hour and 2-for-1 rails and taps. Dan's drink tickets weren't valid with 2-for-1 so we each got 2 drinks, well i got a double tall rum and coke which was a bad idea because it tasted like shit with the super crappy rail rum they had. We all did gummy worm shots, which are pretty good tasting and pretty damn strong since they're a bunch of higher end liquors. Decide it's about time to go to the game, so we use Dan's 4 drink tickets each get 1 more drink and slam those then head to the bradly center. But first we must stop at my car. A little bit of shenanigans at the car, and some bottle changing wonders. Somehow a bottle of Powers whiskey managed to get itself into a water bottle that was stashed in my inside coat pocket, and into a powerade bottle that was stashed inside Dan's coat. We go into the game and Danny buys everyone a nice large coke. I get myself a pretzel and we head to our seats. We hardly watched much of the game at all. Danny and I rolled around pretending like we were going to pick up chicks or something, but there kinda weren't any. During the course of the game I had 3-4 shots of Powers (not really sure, because at this point I'm taking pulls out of a water bottle, and out of my mixed drink inside my coke cup... From the game myself and Danny headed over to bootleggers, Dan and Anselm were split up from us, and heading to Molly Cool's which was our destination, but hey we got sidetracked by a pretty bartender. Don't ask me how because I don't know but Dan and Anselm found us in Bootleggers, we all did a jager bomb and then headed to Molly Cool's to meet up with Dan's girlfriend Heather. Heather was chillin' at Molly's with Kacie, and we sat down and discussed on what the plan for the night was. It was still pretty early, like 11ish. Discussion over a beer and we decided to head over to McGillycuddy's for a little while. Danny disappeared to be picked up by his girlfriend, and Anselm had to go somewhere, I'm not quite sure where. So Dan, Heather, Kacie, and I headed onward. Dan and I sang karaoke...some Tenacious D and it was LEGENDARY! uhh well not quite, but I apparently want to be Barny so there you go King. After the bar we all headed to Kacie's since she was the only one capable of operating a motor vehicle, where we pretty much just went right to sleep.

Thursday: I worked, same as any other day, then after work I went to my Nana's to pick up some food she got for me which was pretty awesome, and also had dinner over there with my Nana, grandpa, and uncle. I went home, unloaded all my food and headed out to Elm Grove to do some marketing research. I was going to be doing a 2 hour radio marketing research thing, not sure what that is? I wasn't either and let me tell you I sure did find out. So I had to go and rate songs, from 1-5 and weather or not I'm tired or hearing it on the radio. Well in 2 hours you can't really do many songs right? Wrong. In 2 hours I rated 600 songs. How is that possible? They played 10 second clips of the most popular part, it was music ADD on crack. Some people can't listen to an entire song, and I can kinda deal with that, but this was horrible. Everytime I started to get into one of the songs because I liked it, bam it changed and some crap like Dave Matthews would come on or something. From there I was planning on going over to Sam's, but he was tired from studying so that didn't happen. I did have one stop to make though. I stopped over at Robert Carey Peterson's place or as I call him Satchmo/Mr. Mo his band rocks my socks, and they just got t-shirts, and I wanted one. So I stopped over there and got myself a shirt for ten bucks. I then drove home. Pretty exciting day.

Friday: Oh baby friday TGIF right? Wrong. Friday was one of my other long days where I got to work at 2 jobs, but wait there's more. So I get off of work at Sharp and head home for a little bit, but Brad was out at Sky Knights cleaning up for safety day, so I went out there and helped him out instead of heading home. I was there for a little more than an hour to help him out, then I had to go to work at Slim's. I forgot my hat at my Nana's on Thursday, so I stopped over there for 5 minutes, got my hat and went to work. Ugh Fish Fry... well it wasn't as bad as I anticipated, but it sure wasn't great. Worked with DW for the night, then the plan was to head to Aura, a bar downtown where Anselm was bartending. I was told it was on 8th and Michigan, which sounded perfect since I was staying at Sam's for the night, and that's not far at all. I go to Sam's after work, say whatup to Laurel, take a shower, and take a shot. Then start figuring out where this place is. Oh, it's on State and Aber or some crap, well that plan's out. Sorry guys, not driving 3-4 miles so I can get hammered and try and find my way back home, and I was getting hammered. It was a long day, 8AM-10:45PM more or less. I decided I wasn't going to be driving anywhere for the night at all, so I had myself another shot, ran over to OP to get some coke, returned and Laurel needed to get home. So I mixed myself a good 'n' big one in a powerade bottle, which made Sam a little nervous about me walking around Milwaukee with a mixed drink in my pocket, and I didn't really care. We walked Laurel home, and on the way back Erica Hermann spotted us from her car and yelled somethin at us. She was stopped at a red light, so we went over to her car and got in. She was going to drive us wherever we were headed which was back to Sam's, but we just pulled over to the side of the road at caught up on things. As I steadily got more and more drunk off of my wonderous powerade. Then we went back to Sam's and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep without a problem. After a long day and a fair amount of booze I was in a happy place laying down on the futon for sleep.

A learning experience

Yeah that last post... kinda old news and not done, but I had written that much and I don't feel like finishing it so you get what it is...

Anyway, I went on a ski tip this past weekend. This may sound somewhat strange, because I've never gone skiing or snowboarding or anything cooler than going down a hill on a sled or rubber tube, or just tumbling my ass down it with the grace of a hippopotamus. So I was on vacation, and I went in with what I believe to be a pretty damn good mindset. I made myself two rules, WHAT?! Rules?! on vacation you say. Yes, just two.

1.) I'm on vacation, no complaints, roll with the flow.
2.) Come home with at least some money.

Well usually I'm pretty shitty at following rules, however these seemed completely logical and, probably pretty good things to do so hell I followed 'em. Then again I kind of like to live life by those two rules. So this whole shibang started out pretty good actually. I was picked up from work by B-Mart (short for Brian Martin), oh and Amanda was there too. So the three of us head over to Mur's to meet with her and Todd. Todd drove the super-van for us, we all pitched in $20 and it got us there and back. Oh baby! After we loaded up the van with our crap we started the road trip to the cottage/shallet thing we were staying in. First though we had to make a small detour. We picked up Sean -Pimp Master- Plastine (as it's saved in my phone) from german town, then headed north... We wanted to get to the shallet in Iron River, Michigan. North seemed like a good idea. We entertained ourselves with various things on the way up, including a few hours of '20 questions' our own modified edition, which included the red cards from apples to apples. Anywhoo, 5 U-turns, one emergency roadside outhouse stop, two meal stops, and god only knows how many hours later we made it... to the ski hill.
"But wait a minute Kent, I thought you wanted to go to your shallet thing...."
Yes, yes we did, we just thought it would be fun to make some more U-turns.
So about another 5 U-turns, another emergency bathroom break (this one at a gas station) and about 45 minutes later, we arrived, at the right place too! Now I was pretty pumped when I got inside this place. There was about 50 bedrooms (7 actually I think), a sauna, a hot tub, 4 showers, spiral stairs, a huge sun room overlooking the frozen lake, it was fucking schweet. However all that aside, I wanted to try out the whole snowboarding thing. It was late and dark and whatnot, but there were a couple of little hills within sight of the place, so I convinced Sean -Pimp Master- Plastine to come out and play in the snow with me (it took a few drinks to convince him, but hey I do what I gotta do). Sean had two snowboards, so I managed to get to use his old one which worked out well enough for me, it was a few inches short of what would've been ideal, but hey I got to use it and didn't have to pay. Start out and Sean's a little pissed because I can ride normal or goofy foot, which was pretty cool to me. Goofy felt better but I gave normal a try too and it wasn't too horrible. The hill wasn't too big, but you could get a little bit of speed, and then you went out onto the lake which was frozen over, and pretty sweet. I was about 50 feet out on the lake when I yelled over to Sean, "It's a good thing this lake is all the way frozen over, because I'm pretty far out." You know where sometimes you need to knock on wood, and there's none available.... This was one of those times. Luckily the lake was all the way frozen over, and I was totally fine, but after I said that I was kinda weary to go out too far onto the lake again. We were out there for an hour or two just goofin' around, did one run through a tree covered hill a little farther away from the house, but the snow was all too fresh, and not really the best grade for us to get down it with a whole lot of fun. So we picked up our boards, and headed back in. This was my first snowboarding experience and it was pretty fun, but I was wishing I could go to the ski hill the next day and try out my skills, the problem was that would involve breaking rule #2, and I just couldn't bring myself to spend all my money on a lift ticket, when I really didn't know how I would do, or if it would be worth it. I told that to Amy when she asked me weather or not I was going to the hill the next day, and her and Shue decided to surprise me by buying me a lift ticket. My friends fucking rock.

I spent the day snowboarding, and falling. Not sure which was more dominant, overall. By the end of it I was fairly proficient and could go down most of the runs without falling, I didn't get to try out the black diamond run I had done twice at the end of the day like I wanted because It was already closed, so I kinda made my own run through the trees, between runs. It worked out well. It was one of those fan-fricken-tastical days that you always hope you have while on vacation. Returned to the shallet tired, and a little sore. Hopped in the hot-tub before dinner, then got to enjoy steak and spaghetti which works great for me. At this point I proceeded with one of my favorite pass times, getting good and liquored up. Had a good night of drunken drunk with my friends then went to bed. Woke up, packed up the van, waved goodbye to the lovely shallet we stayed in, and began the journey home. Most of us were tired, a few of us sore, and we were all pretty happy about the weekend we had. The drive home wasn't quite as exciting as the drive up, however we did make a small detour which included a few U-Turns, and was so that we could look at some windmills to see weather or not they would be tall enough to jump off. It also involved 1 count of Todd trying to drive off while I was still in the bathroom at Arby's. As well as 1 delicious count of taco-bell. Got back to my car, tried to start it, it needed a jump. Amanda was going to follow me home from where we parked (at my work) but once she saw that my car didn't start I was grabbing jumper cables, she decided Todd could jump me and she would just drive off. Which was great because if my car didn't start she would've been the perfect person to drive me home, while I was stuck at work, with a dead cell phone, but hey my logic must be flawed. Luckily it started up without a problem once I hooked the cables up to Todd's van's battery. Hopped in the car, and drove home.

It was quite an adventure, and I followed both my rules. I found out a few things on this trip.
1) I can follow rules, if they're simple and I agree with them.
2) My friends fucking rock.
3) Amanda can't be relied on having good judgement, especially while on the rag.
4) Snowboarding is fun, and I'm a fairly decent natural
5) Sean -Pimp Master- Plastine has less fear than I do and is a beast on the snowboard

I'm sure there's some more that I learned, but that's good enough.
